GOLDEN REUNION 1 ST BATTALION 137 TH INFANTRY 69 TH INFANTRY BRIGADE As all of you know, President Johnson ordered our National Guard units to federal active duty on May 6, 1968. The soldiers of the 69 th Infantry Brigade proudly served our country here in the United States, in Vietnam and other countries around the world. This December 13, 2019 is the Golden Anniversary, 50 years, since we were released from federal active duty. Yes, it has been 50 years since most of us returned to our families and civilian life. Yes, basically back to the life we lived before being asked to serve our country in time of need. Several of us have stayed in touch with one another and others haven’t. It was the consensus of a gathering in Wichita that we have a “Golden Reunion” of our release from active duty. The Golden Reunion will be held Monday, December 16, 2019, at the Winfield American Legion, 115 West 10 th , Winfield, Kansas at 6:00 PM. There will be a steak dinner with baked potato, green beans, roll and desert. Cost for the evening will be $20.00 per person. A cash bar will be available The entertainment that night will be Barry Ward, Male Vocalist of the year, Academy of Western Artists (2014 and 2018) and many other awards. He is humbled by our wonderful American soldiers and Veterans who daily sacrifice for our freedom. He will sing numerous songs to include Welcome Home. All members of our activated battalion, their family and friends, as well other military personnel and others that just want to say “welcome home” are invited. …… LOREN PONTIOUS, A Co
